Construction crews begin laying the foundation on SC State's new multi-million dollar academic facility.

More than $210 million in construction and renovation projects are set to transform the university's landscape, highlighted by an expansive academic building.

Work is underway on South Carolina State University's new multi-million dollar academic facility which is slated for completion in the fall of 2027.

Construction crews began laying the foundation of the $54.7 million, 94,000-square-foot building on Friday. Steel should be erected as soon as this April.

Situated adjacent to Turner Hall, the Student Center Plaza and Dukes Gymnasium, the facility will replace the current Turner Hall complex.

The academic building is among more than $210 million in construction and renovation projects that are either physically underway or in design and approval stages for the main campus.
