The recall on Elite Treats, LLC.'s product was issued Feb. 24.

Dog owners, beware of a recent dog treat recall.

South Carolina is one of 5 states where a recall has been issued on 6 ounce bags of "Elite Treats Chicken Chips for Dogs."

The company says this product could be contaminated with Salmonella. The affected bags have an expiration date of April 2027.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The contamination was noted after testing performed by a third-party laboratory identified contamination in a related yet commercially unreleased lot of the same product.

Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic, have a fever and experience vomiting. Some pets may have decreased appetite and abdominal pain. If you suspect your pet has salmonella, contact your vet.
