The Lexington County Peach Festival, a summer staple which organizers previously canceled this year after 65 years, is now back in the works.

Often referred to as South Carolina's sweetest summer tradition, the Lexington County Peach Festival will not take a hiatus in 2026, as previously announced.

Last month, the Gilbert Community Club voted to pause this year's event because many of the festival's key organizers would be attending the 250th anniversary celebration of the nation's founding in Washington, D.C. However, in a recent message to the community, organizers shared that the Peach Festival would not be canceled and will take place on Saturday, July 4.

The online announcement commended the community for stepping up, praising the support of new volunteers, sponsors and community leaders, who are making the 2026 event possible.

For the past 65 years, the Lexington County Peach Festival has indulged festival-goers from across the state and beyond.

What began as a small town gathering in 1958 has, over the years, evolved into a large-scale event, attracting tourists and South Carolinians alike. The festival also is recognized as one of the most successful and prestigious events of its kind in the Southeast.
