Customers who purchased Costco’s meatloaf kit between March 2 and March 13, 2026, are being asked to return the product amid a Salmonella risk.

Costco Wholesale is alerting its shoppers of potential Salmonella contamination in the food product: Meatloaf with Mashed Yukon Potatoes and Glaze (Item #30783).

The product was sold in numerous locations nationally, including South Carolina stores, between March 2 and March 13, 2026.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) explains Salmonella is a group of bacteria that can cause gastrointestinal illness and fever called salmonellosis. Common symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever, which may last up to seven days.

Death is possible in extreme cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC estimates about 450 Americans die each year from acute salmonellosis.

The ingredient supplier, Griffith Foods Inc., has not specified which of the meatloaf kit's ingredients was contaminated. Those who have purchased the meatloaf kit (Item #30783) are asked to return it to their nearest Costco for a full refund.

The retailer had not received any reports of illnesses as of publication.
