The former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations ran for president in 2024 but said she won't seek election to the office in 2028.

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley recently addressed rumors of her 2028 presidential campaign.

She told CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday she won't have one.

Her decision comes after Haley ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024. She won two Republican primaries but did not secure her home state of South Carolina.

Two weeks later, Haley dropped out on Super Tuesday. Haley was the last GOP contender in the race against President Donald Trump, who she endorsed after suspending her campaign.

Possible Republican candidates for 2028 include Vice President J.D. Vance and Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, among others.

Trump has not endorsed a successor to the Oval Office when his term ends.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Kamala Harris was encouraged during the 35th National Action Network Convention to run again for the Democratic Party nomination.
