One person is in the hospital after the incident in Florence County Saturday. No law enforcement officers were injured.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Florence County. The incident Saturday is the 13th officer-involved shooting in the state this year.

SLED reports Maurice Cortez Green, 34, was shot following an altercation with Florence police at a home on Rushmore Loop. He is being treated at a local hospital. No law enforcement officers were injured.

According to SLED, police were called to the home for a hostage situation where they found Green holding a knife to a woman's neck. SLED says Green tried to get away but an officer located him, there was an altercation, and that's when Green was shot.

SLED reports there were 45 officer involved shootings in South Carolina last year.
