Early voting turnout in South Carolina's statewide primary has already surpassed the totals from the last two primary election cycles.
The State Election Commission reports 177,724 ballots were cast during the first weekdays of early voting. That total is higher than the entire 2024 primary early voting period, when 120,178 ballots were cast.
The strongest turnout came on the first day of voting. More than 56,000 South Carolinians cast ballots Tuesday. Another 34,053 voted Wednesday, followed by 29,223 on Thursday, 31,739 on Friday, and 26,302 on Monday.
Richland County recorded the highest turnout statewide, with 21,314 ballots cast. Charleston County followed with 15,860 votes, while Greenville County reported 13,942.
Early voting continues through Friday. Polling locations across the state will remain open each day from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ahead of Primary Election Day.
