Red Metals, a next-generation copper manufacturer, will build its first production operation in Charleston County. The $70 million investment is expected to create at least 45 jobs.
The facility will be located on Leeds Avenue in North Charleston. The plant will manufacture high-conductivity copper rod used in wire, cable and other electrical applications.
The operation will serve as Red Metal's first production facility. It is designed to strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity and deliver essential copper products with shorter lead times and reduced supply chain complexity.
Copper is a critical input for electrical infrastructure, data centers, electrification, advanced manufacturing and defense applications. S&P Global projects global copper demand will nearly double by 2035, driven by electrification, renewable energy, electric vehicles and digital infrastructure.
