Chester County Council has approved the first reading to temporarily pause future data center applications.

During the six-month period, council will study long-term community impacts and offer opportunities for public input to ensure a full understanding of community impact.

“Chester County is committed to making informed decisions that balance economic opportunity with responsible growth,” said Council Chair Pete Wilson. “This pause gives us the opportunity to learn from experts, hear from residents, and continue to develop policies that serve the best interests of our community. “

Chester County will host a series of upcoming educational workshops focused on key topics related to data center development, including:

  • Impacts on the regional and local power grid
  • Local utility capacity
  • Economic impacts for both government and citizens
  • Environmental impacts
  • Community impacts

More information about the workshops will be announced in the coming weeks. Future council meetings and agenda items can be found here.
