The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Anderson County. The incident in Townville Friday marks the 23rd officer-involved shooting in the state this year.
Anderson County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home on Bradberry Road after receiving a call about an individual with a gun and shots fired in the area. That's where, according to investigators, a deputy found 55-year-old Linda McAbee armed with a handgun.
Gunfire was exchanged, and McAbee was shot. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. No law enforcement officers were injured.
SLED's investigation is ongoing.
