South Carolina will receive nearly $5.5 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to support nine disaster recovery and community resilience projects in the state.
Projects supported through FEMA's Public Assistance program include:
- $3.2 million to the South Carolina Department of Transportation for debris removal operations following Hurricane Helene; and bridge, culvert, embankment and shoulder repair or replacement as a result of previous disasters.
- $1.5 million to Greenville County for debris removal operations following Hurricane Helene.
- $224,000 to Anderson County for disaster management costs.
- $170,000 to Lander University for asphalt and drainage pipe repair or replacement following Hurricane Helene.
FEMA is also awarding more than $102,000 to fund generators and emergency power for its Critical Facilities Energy Resilience Project in South Carolina. The money is being distributed through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
The funding is part of more than $781 million that FEMA announced for nearly 500 projects nationwide.
