The incident in Effingham Monday is the 30th officer-involved shooting in the state this year.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Florence County. The incident Monday in Effingham is the 30th officer-involved shooting in the state this year.

SLED reports that Florence County deputies were responding to a domestic violence call at a house on Fulton Avenue when a 16-year-old male charged at them with a knife and officers shot him. The teen was taken to the hospital for treatment. No law enforcement officers were injured.

This is the third officer-involved shooting involving the Florence County Sheriff's Office this year. There were 45 total in South Carolina last year.
