Construction will soon be underway on South Carolina State University's new state-of-the-art library. Congressman James Clyburn will join university and community leaders for the ceremonial groundbreaking at 11 a.m. Friday.

The $30.3 million dollar project is part of a multi-million dollar construction program to modernize campus facilities. The 50,000 square-foot building will also house the Dr. Emily England Clyburn Honors College.

The campus-wide transformation also includes a $50 million residence hall, a $54.7 million academic building, a $20 million student center expansion and the $25 million renovation of Sojourner Truth Hall. The projects are state and federally funding.
