Making It Grow logo

Hello Gardeners, I’m Amanda McNulty with Clemson Extension and Making It Grow. Clemson horticulture agent Barbara Smith is one of the experts who answer plant problem and food safety calls made to Clemson’s Home & Garden Information Center, HGIC  for short. Each week she also shares through the Clemson HGIC free weekly email newsletter beautiful pictures of flowers or interesting plants she sees at the South Carolina Botanical Garden on Clemson’s campus. For her post listed Week 1 June 2019, she shared exquisite pictures of flowering hydrangeas growing in that beautiful garden. From huge mopheads to lacecaps to the smaller H. serratas, the colors and flower structures are dazzling, and, as a lover of pollinators, Barbara caught many insects or spiders posed on these blossoms. If you search Clemson HGIC a pop up box will appear and you can subscribe to this weekly email newletter with timely tips and photos of the week.

Amanda McNulty is a Clemson University Extension Horticulture agent and the host of South Carolina ETV’s Making It Grow! gardening program. She studied horticulture at Clemson University as a non-traditional student. “I’m so fortunate that my early attempts at getting a degree got side tracked as I’m a lot better at getting dirty in the garden than practicing diplomacy!” McNulty also studied at South Carolina State University and earned a graduate degree in teaching there.
