Hello, I’m Amanda McNulty with Clemson Extension and Making It Grow. Just about anything that’s determined can come inside our 1880’s old house – we’ve had possums, racoons, bats, innumerable insects, and also reptiles and amphibians. One of the most thrilling days was when a green tree frog was on the outside of the downstairs bathroom toilet. We had a kitty cat that brought small snakes and rodents to us to show what a good hunter she was, making a special chirping noise to announce her success. Over this past winter, I’ve found lizards, actually green anoles, in several rooms. Sadly, two of them were dead, I guess from not having anything to eat. We have spiders everywhere and you’d think those reptiles could feast on them, but the little fellows are active in the daytime, and the big spiders come out at night from behind the moldings.
