Making It Grow, with host Amanda McNulty

Hello, I’m Amanda McNulty with Clemson Extension and Making It Grow. There are lots of reasons to get down on my hands and knees, which gets harder every year. I purposefully put on my tennis shoes sitting on the floor, hoping to stay agile, and also find myself crawling around trying to catch green anoles, those little green lizards that often sun themselves on the porch railings, that have gotten inside the house. If it’s cold, they’re much easier to catch. When it’s warm, you have to try to get them in corner or such before they run and hide somewhere inaccessible. They’re often on the upstairs curtains (I don’t know if they walked up the stairs or not) or on one of the living room window sills. Not too long ago one was on the bedspread over Edward’s stomach. I guess it was a warm spot!

Amanda McNulty is a Clemson University Extension Horticulture agent and the host of South Carolina ETV’s Making It Grow! gardening program. She studied horticulture at Clemson University as a non-traditional student. “I’m so fortunate that my early attempts at getting a degree got side tracked as I’m a lot better at getting dirty in the garden than practicing diplomacy!” McNulty also studied at South Carolina State University and earned a graduate degree in teaching there.
