Three men, ages 18 and 19, were charged Tuesday in connection with the fire that still burns at Table Rock Mountain. A juvenile was also charged, but not booked.

A third of the fire at Table Rock Mountain was contained by Monday noon. Two-thirds of the fire at Persimmon Ridge was also contained. Weather has made a difference.

Smoke from the fires at Table Rock Mountain and Persimmon Ridge are filling the air with particles and gases. Health officials advise evacuating or staying inside with a filtered HVAC system, especially for those with existing respiratory conditions.

Dry conditions, wind and trees downed by Hurricane Helene fueled wildfires in North Carolina and South Carolina, where evacuation orders were in effect Tuesday.

On Thursday, the South Carolina Forestry Commission issued a statewide Red Flag Alert, until further notice, as they resume command of the fire from the Florida Forest Service Complex Incident Management Team.

The wildfire, which originated in a fire pit on March 1, remains at 2,059 acres.

Residents of Carolina Forest near Myrtle Beach are still on alert after a weekend of wildfires that came dangerously close.

Crews battled wildfires in North and South Carolina on Sunday amid dry conditions and gusty winds as residents were forced to evacuate in some areas.
