DIY Tire Belt

Have you got an old bicycle tire lying around collecting dust in your garage?  Here’s a great way to up-cycle bicycle parts and make your outfit recycling chic: turn that tire into a belt!  You’ll need a few tools like scissors, a hand riveter, a buckle, rivets, an electric drill (if you have one) and be sure to have your safety goggles and gloves handy.  Start by thoroughly washing the tire, and then cut it into a strip the length and width to fit your waste with a little extra room to adjust for fit.  Drill a hole on one end, attach the buckle and fasten it with rivets.  Drill a few more holes at the other end where you’ll secure the strap and voila:  a fashionable and repurposed belt.  The whole process takes a few hours, but it’s a do-it-yourself project worth trying!  Bicycle parts are so versatile they can be repurposed for all kinds of projects!
