Hello, I’m Amanda McNulty with Clemson Extension and Making It Grow. One of the finest teachers my kids ever had is Cousin Carolyn Wimberly, who gave her students wonderful experiences such as watching baby chickens hatch. Of course, then she had to find parents willing to take those chicks when they got a little older. So Chickie Wimberly came to live with us. She came inside periodically and occasionally slept on Edward’s considerably soft stomach while he watched TV. She loved to garden with me --when I dug up a worm she would immediately gobble it up. She once rode on my shoulder as we drove to the beach and people with out of state licenses would pass us, then slow down and let us catch up while they no doubt thought that some southerners had rather peculiar habits.
