Making It Grow, hosted by Amanda McNulty

Hello, I’m Amanda McNulty with Clemson Extension and Making it Grow. The South Carolina Midlands Nature and Bird Alliance posted a cute poem prompting us to get hummingbird feeders out now as those charming birds are coming back from their winter retreats. Here is an edited version of it:

“Tis better to put out your feeders early
To the delight of every returning birdy
So that they might provide a season’s worth of delight
To all of us that bother to notice their flight.
Spend your warm months being entertained by the show
of beautiful plumage just beyond your back window."

This group gathered on MLK Day Service at the Saluda Riverwalk Park and, in addition to spotting birds, removed invasive plants and picked up pounds and pounds of trash, also ate a ton of doughnuts!

She studied horticulture at Clemson University as a non-traditional student. “I’m so fortunate that my early attempts at getting a degree got side tracked as I’m a lot better at getting dirty in the garden than practicing diplomacy!” McNulty also studied at South Carolina State University and earned a graduate degree in teaching there.
