Care For Your Dog - Be Sure Your Enclosure is Free From Sago Palms

Making It Grow logo

Lots of us got pets during the work from home phase of the pandemic. Remember the old song, “How much is that doggie in the window? “There’s a great rendition of it by Patti Paige you can find on the internet. In it, she says she must travel to California and leave her sweetheart alone. “If he has that dog, he won’t be lonesome, and the doggie will have a good home.” Well, some of us now are having to leave our beloved companions who comforted us and vice versa 24-7 to return to our offices and it may be traumatic for pets. If you are going to have to leave your dog outside in a confined area, please check to be sure you don’t have sago palms growing there. They are extremely toxic to animals, including humans.

She studied horticulture at Clemson University as a non-traditional student. “I’m so fortunate that my early attempts at getting a degree got side tracked as I’m a lot better at getting dirty in the garden than practicing diplomacy!” McNulty also studied at South Carolina State University and earned a graduate degree in teaching there.
