SC Lede: Big Ol' Budget Debate, Baybee

South Carolina House Budget Debate Murrell Smith March 2023
It was a long debate in the House this week over its $14 billion budget, which got bogged down over concerns involving diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at public colleges and universities in the state. House Speaker Murrell Smith had to oversee, at times, contentious debate that got personal at times on March 13, 2023. The budget was sent to the Senate on Wednesday which will craft its own version that it will return to the House.

On this episode of the South Carolina Lede for March 18, 2023 we recap this week's sometimes contentious debates in the state House of Representatives regarding their state budget proposal and an incentive package for Scout Motors.

Join us for the first live Lede taping of 2023 at Kite Hill Brewing Co. in Clemson, SC on April 13. More details are available here.
