  • Former South Carolina Congressman John Spratt died Saturday. Spratt was an influential and respected politician who served the state for almost 30 years.
  • Former veteran state legislator nd public education advocate Kay Patterson has died. Patterson was elected to the state house in 1974; he retired from the Senate in 2008.
  • A date is set for a special election in McColl. The Marlboro County town needs to elect a mayor, following the death of George Garner last month.
  • Boeing is cutting another 67 jobs at its South Carolina sites.
    the company is looking to reduce costs amid quality issues.
  • Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland will announce five new National Historic Landmarks that will increase the representation of women’s history. Included on the list is the Charleston Cigar Factory.
