YMCA of Greenville set a $1.44 million fundraising goal for its 2024 annual campaign to financially assist children and adults across Greenville County.

Through the campaign’s efforts, the YMCA will help support individuals who wish to access its programs and services but are unable to pay. Diana Watson, YMCA of Greenville’s senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer, said the theme for this year’s campaign is ‘You are Y.”

“You make it possible for the YMCA of Greenville to create opportunities and access for all. With your support, we get to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive,” Watson said.

To kick off the campaign, YMCA of Greenville is hosting its annual Days of Giving on March 4 and 5. The organization’s goal is to raise $300,000 during the two-day event.

Carol Ruppel, the community development director for Prisma Health Family YMCA, said the organization hopes to encourage its general members to give back during the Days of Giving.

“We feel very confident that we will reach our goal,” Ruppel said.

Funding raised during the annual campaign will be used to create children, adults and families scholarships for wellness memberships, youth sports programs, swim lessons, afterschool care, summer day camps and more.

The YMCA’s food delivery program will also receive a portion of the raised funds to continue its work helping those experiencing food insecurity across the county.

“Every dollar donated to the YMCA of Greenville annual campaign has a lasting impact on the people right here in our community,” says Scot Baddley, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greenville.

YMCA of Greenville has raised more than $13 million for the annual campaign over the past 14 years.
