Wilson, 77, was hospitalized Tuesday after reportedly collapsing at an event in Washington D.C.
Wilson's son, Attorney General Alan Wilson, said that night that his dad experienced "stroke-like" symptoms.
In an earlier post, Wilson's office said the 2nd Congressional District representative was in "good spirits, improving, and speaking with family."
Wilson has represented the Midlands-area district since 2001 after serving 17 years in the South Carolina state Senate. He is a member of U.S. House committees on armed services, foreign affairs and education and workforce. He also chairs the U.S. Helsinki Commission.
Wilson faces Democrat David Robinson II in the Nov. 5 election.
