Upstate tire manufacturer to close its Spartanburg plant, affecting 90 jobs

Yokohama TWS North American makes tires for agricultural vehicles. It's closure in Spartanburg is the largest job loss in South Carolina to be announced so far this year.

Yokohama TWS North American will permanently close its Spartanburg facility by April 19, according to a WARN filing with the state Department of Employment and Workforce.

The plant’s closure will affect 90 jobs, which is the largest number of jobs lost in the state so far this year.

Yokohama TWS makes specialty tires for agricultural equipment around the world.

Tuesday’s WARN filing comes about two weeks after Boeing announced 8 permanent layoffs at its site in Charleston.
