Sumter Police are cautioning parents and guardians about potential hidden dangers in Halloween candy.
The reminder to put safety first comes after a family reported sharp objects in candy following an event Thursday night. According to police, the family was inspecting the candy when they discovered some pieces had been tampered with.
Sumter police remind parents to check all candy (wrappers and contents) children receive while trick-or-treating or from any organized Halloween activities. Anyone who suspects a problem should call law enforcement immediately.
