A date is set for the South Carolina Supreme Court to hear an appeal from convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh, who is currently serving a lifelong prison sentence.
The South Carolina Supreme Court announced Tuesday that oral arguments in the case will begin on Feb. 11.
The former lawyer gained national attention for the murder of his wife and son. He filed for multiple retrials but was denied a hearing in January of 2024 in Richland County.
Murdaugh's legal team argues he was not given a fair trial and that his financial crimes were not sustainable evidence to convict him for the murders.
The hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 11. Arguments will be live streamed on the SCETV website.
