Two more South Carolinians die of winter storm-related causes

Winter Storm Fern has now been linked to four deaths in the state.

Two more South Carolinians have died in the aftermath of Winter Storm Fern, bringing the total number of deaths in the state to four.

The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) reports a 79-year-old Oconee County man died Wednesday after slipping and falling on ice and a 59-year-old Charleston County man died Monday as a result of hypothermia following the storm.

Earlier this week, DPH confirmed the deaths of an 83-year-old female in Lexington County and a 96-year-old female in Greenwood County, both from hypothermia.
