SLED investigates officer-involved shooting in York County.

The incident in Fort Mill on Friday is the fifth officer-involved shooting in South Carolina this year.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating an officer-involved shooting in York County.

The incident happened Friday at a home on Pine Ridge Court in Fort Mill where deputies were responding to a call for service. Investigators say a deputy shot a man who was armed with a knife during an encounter.

The York County Coroner's office identified the person who was shot at as Allan Josue Topete-Guevara, 22. He died at the scene.

No law enforcement officers were injured.

This incident marks the fifth officer-involved shooting in South Carolina this year and the first involving the York County Sheriff's Office. Last year, there were 45 officer-involved shootings in the state, including one in York County.
