Early voting in the state's primary runoffs will take place on two days this week, Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, polling locations will be closed in observance of Juneteenth.
There are nine runoff races in five categories.
Governor
Republican candidates Pamela Evette and Alan Wilson are in a runoff for the GOP's nomination for governor. During the primary, Evette received 28.86% of the vote, while Wilson received 26.14%.
Attorney General
Republican candidates Stephen Goldfinch and David Stumbo are in a runoff for attorney general. Goldfinch received 39.99% of the vote, while Stumbo received 35.66%.
Commissioner of Agriculture
Republican candidates Danny Ford and Cody Simpson are in a runoff for Commissioner of Agriculture. Ford received 37.25% of the vote, while Simpson received 38.14%.
U.S House of Representatives
Democrat
- In District 1, Mac Deford and Nancy Lacore are in a runoff for a seat in the U.S House of Representatives. Deford received 28.89% of the vote, while Lacore received 36.49%.
- In District 2, Zyon Khalifa and David Robinson II are in a runoff for a seat in the U.S House of Representatives. Khalifa received 34.09% of the vote, while Robinson received 41.03%.
Republican
- In District 1, Jenny Costa Honeycutt and Mark Smith are in a runoff for a seat in the U.S House of Representatives. Honeycutt received 22.09% of the vote, while Smith received 17.99%.
State House of Representatives
- In District 8, Republicans Don Chapman and Sherry Hodges are in a runoff for a seat in the State House of Representatives. Chapman received 44.97% of the vote, while Hodges received 42.54%.
- In District 96, Republicans Hunter Hackett and Scotty Whetstone are in a runoff for a seat in the State House of Representatives. Hackett received 48.26%, while Whetstone received 32.61%.
- In District 99, Republicans Jarrod Brooks and Kristy Gore are in a runoff for a seat in the State House of Representatives. Brooks received 43.67% of the vote, while Gore received 28.82%.
Voters can go to any early voting center in their county during the period. They must present a valid photo ID or voter registration card.
Anyone who voted in the June 16th primary election has to stick with that party in the runoff. For those who haven't yet voted in the primary, you can vote on either side.
The runoff election is June 23rd.
