Update: Body of missing 5-year-old girl found

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office announced an update in the search for missing child Saylor Hayes.

Georgetown County leaders say the body of 5-year-old Saylor Hayes was found Monday morning in waters near the rental home where she went missing. The house is located on Old Waccamaw Drive in the Hagley community of Pawleys Island.

Georgetown deputies say the body was found by Department of Natural Resources agents at around 9:45 a.m.

Hayes, who was nonverbal, went missing from the area Sunday.

Responding agencies include Horry County Sheriff's Office, Charleston County Sheriff's Office, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Midway Fire Department.
