The multi-year renovation master plan focuses heavily on improving ingress, egress, concourse circulation, and overall game day convenience before moving into major premium seating and facility overhauls in 2027 and 2028.
Phase 1 delivers immediate upgrades for the general fanbase attending home games this fall that include:
Restroom Expansion: The West Main Concourse now features five times more restroom fixtures per person for both men and women. The East Ground Concourse offers five times more female restroom fixtures and a 24 percent increase for male fans. Design features include one-way entry and exit doors to keep queues moving quickly.
Accelerated Concessions: The stadium has added 39 new concession points of sale—including 21 grab-and-go locations on West Main and 18 on East Ground—designed to increase checkout throughput by approximately 2.5 times.
Concourse & Student Upgrades: Fans will see expanded concourse spaces, new marketplace setups, brew-thrus, updated branding, and initial structural work for a first-of-its-kind Student Club set to fully open in Phase 2.
Sensory Room Addition: The stadium now features a dedicated sensory room to support fans needing a quiet break from stadium lights and noise.
"Phase one was really intended to improve the overall fan experience from the perspective of getting in and out of the stadium," Athletic Director Jeremiah Donati said during a press tour of the facilities. "One of the major points of feedback I got early on was just the restrooms and long lines... we’ve added a ton of restrooms and met or exceeded code in all those areas."
What to know for Game Day
With extreme heat expected for the opening weeks of the season, university officials are urging fans to take specific steps to ensure a smooth game day experience:
- Fully Digital Ticketing: Carolina athletics has fully transitioned to digital ticketing. Printed tickets will no longer be accepted. Fans must download their tickets to their smartphone digital wallets prior to arriving at the stadium.
- Specific Gate Entry: Digital tickets now designate a specific gate entry location. Fans must enter at their assigned gate to balance pedestrian flow and prevent bottlenecking at concourse entry points.
- Heat Safety & Mobile Battery Rules: Fans are encouraged to bring cooling towels and stay hydrated. Personal fans powered by lithium-ion power tool batteries are strictly prohibited inside the stadium. To assist with battery drain from digital tickets, mobile charging rental stations are positioned on the East Ground, West Main, and Student concourses.
- Arrive Early: Officials recommend allowing extra time to navigate new pedestrian traffic routes and concourse layouts.
The $350 million stadium transformation is backed by recent fundraising success. Donati announced that the Gamecock Club raised $244 million over the past year—a record total that he claims tops collegiate athletics nationwide.
"It really shows that the donors are ready for this," Donati said. "They're ready for an elevated and enhanced experience."
To minimize disruption, project contractor Greg Hughes of Contract Construction noted that the project was deliberately structured into three phases so fans will only undergo a single re-seating process, scheduled ahead of the 2027 season. Affected season ticket holders will select seats based on priority standing, with protections built in to ensure options remain available in the lower bowl.
Phase 2 construction will run throughout the 2026 season between home games, focusing on interior utility work, glass installation on the West elevation, and preparations for new upper deck structures and premium suites. Team spaces, including upgraded home locker rooms, recruiting lounges, and coaches' meeting areas—will be overhauled in 2027.
Single-game tickets for remaining 2026 home games can be accessed via Ticketmaster, while fans interested in Phase 2 premium seating options can complete an interest form through Gamecock Athletics.
