Prisma Health said Thursday it is getting 36 urgent cares across the state from Novant Health.
The locations will be former Doctor's Care centers. About 500 medical staff are expected to be affected in the transition. Prisma leaders say they expect most of the facilities to stay where they are, but some may move.
Prisma is based out of Greenville and is the largest healthcare system in the state.
“Access to timely, high-quality care is essential to the health of our communities," said Dr. Jonathan Gleason, executive vice president and chief clinical officer for Prisma Health. “Adding these clinics to our network expands access to Prisma Health’s scope of services across South Carolina and strengthens the connection between convenient, same-day care and our broad network of providers, specialists and hospitals.”
Prisma Health serves more than 1.6 million people across South Carolina and Tennessee.
