Several counties across South Carolina are experiencing a shortage of poll workers, mirroring the staffing struggles counties faced ahead of the June primary.
Election leaders say a lack of poll workers leads to issues like long wait times and lines, and less assistance being readily available.
Pay and Training
The State Election Commission says these are paid positions that include training. Official county or state election offices have information on compensation rates for working on Election Day.
Workers ages 16 and 17 can participate as assistant poll workers.
How to Apply
South Carolinians can register online. Applications and eligibility requirements are available online.
