Police say a man has been charged in the August 2017 murder of Harry Bennett who was found fatally stabbed in his Johns Island apartment.

Charleston police made an arrest Tuesday in a nearly decade-old cold case. Henry James Brisbane, 69, is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Police say he is responsible for the death of Harry Bennet who was found stabbed to death in his Johns Island apartment on Aug. 20, 2017.

Brisbane was among numerous people interviewed during the original investigation. Then, after a cold case review and evidence analysis earlier this year, investigators say DNA results linked Brisbane to the crime scene and provided a critical breakthrough in the investigation which led to his arrest.

Police are still seeking information in the case. Tips may be called in to the Charleston Police Department at 843-720-2422 or submitted online at www.charleston-sc.gov/tips.
