Remembering Charles Townes, Father of the Laser

Charles H. Townes
SCETV

Nobel Prize Scientist Charles Townes died last week at the age of 99. He was a South Carolina native, a Furman graduate and a member of the South Carolina Hall of Fame. The Palmetto Scene provided a remembrance. In addition to creating the Laser, Townes was a co-discoverer of the massive black hole at the center of our galaxy.

SCETV has produced a video profile of Townes for the South Carolina Hall of Fame that tells the story of his life and some of his amazing accomplishments.
