Making It Grow Radio Minute

Who in the world would want to go the hospital for a relaxing, refreshing experience? Well, people who know about the remarkable campus at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, that’s who. Although there are myriad buildings on ninety acres, the administrators give great support to the grounds crew who strive to passively and active connect people with the healing powers of nature. The campus is open twenty-four seven, if you want to take a morning or evening stroll you are provided with sidewalks surrounded by some turf grass but many raised beds full of annual color, perennial shrubs and grasses, and trees, trees, trees, trees. The people-friendly grounds crew who are working all over campus probably help more people find their way to the right building for an appointment than any other M U S C employees.

Amanda McNulty is a Clemson University Extension Horticulture agent and the host of South Carolina ETV’s Making It Grow! gardening program. She studied horticulture at Clemson University as a non-traditional student. “I’m so fortunate that my early attempts at getting a degree got side tracked as I’m a lot better at getting dirty in the garden than practicing diplomacy!” McNulty also studied at South Carolina State University and earned a graduate degree in teaching there.
