Hello, I’m Amanda McNulty with Clemson Extension and Making It Grow. The South Carolina Botanical Garden is on the Clemson campus but since 1992 has been designated as the State Botanical Garden. On the outskirts of campus, the three hundred acres has surprising diversity with natural heritage gardens, special collections of hostas and camellias, and birding sites. It’s open every day of the year, has plenty of parking and is completely free, partially due to wonderful volunteers. You can find out what’s going on if you search Clemson HGIC — when you get there, scroll down and subscribe. The news you get is diverse and on Fridays they feature “What’s happening in the Garden.” Spectacular pictures will tempt you to visit and to learn more about the plethora of plants highlighted.
