Hello, I’m Amanda McNulty with Clemson Extension and Making It Grow. When people talk about the good old days, they sure as heck aren’t talking about Christmas tree lights. It used to be if one bulb was burned out, all the others wouldn’t light up. I don’t remember what we had to do, but it was a lot of trouble. I just looked, and now there are YouTube sites that tell you how to easily do that. But why not just get new strings of lights? We have Christmas tree farms in South Carolina; they often have fun things for kids to do: you get a fresh tree, the fun of driving to that location, and often hot chocolate and cookies. One fragrant tree grown here, the bluish colored Carolina Sapphire, was developed by a SC forester, Booth Chilcutt.
