Hello, I’m Amanda McNulty with Clemson Extension and Making It Grow. My "new" old house has two closest, one in the downstairs bathroom where you can keep toilet paper and some towels and another in the corner of the smallest bedroom upstairs. Our “old” old house, built by my husband’s Wimberly grandfather before he had much money, had no closets whatsoever and one bathroom which was added at at the end of the porch. Back in the day, people had linen presses to store tablecloths and fabric napkins which were used daily, we still do. We have a tablecloth made especially for our dining room table, with Edward’s Zimmerman’s grandmother’s initials and the date of 1902. Also, invaluable and found in every home were cedar chests to protect woolens and furs from moths, and we were fortunate to have two of those.
