TRANSCRIPT:

I’m Mark Rapp, and this is Rapp on Jazz.

Vinyl records are back in a big way—and nowhere is their revival more celebrated than in jazz. For decades, jazz fans cherished the ritual of lowering the needle, hearing the warmth of analog sound, and holding the cover art in their hands.

In recent years, a new generation of listeners has rediscovered that experience.

Independent labels and major companies are reissuing classic albums—Miles, Coltrane, Ella—while pressing new releases from today’s artists.

Collectors and casual fans appreciate vinyl’s depth of tone, the larger-than-life album artwork, and the sense of connection it creates.

For jazz, a music built on intimacy and authenticity, vinyl feels right at home.

This vinyl renaissance brings timeless recordings to life all over again.

This has been Rapp on Jazz, a co-production of ColaJazz and South Carolina Public Radio, made possible by the ETV Endowment of South Carolina.
