SCDOT Secretary Christy Hall, center, talks with Gov. Henry McMaster after the groundbreaking ceremony for the $1.7 billion Carolina Crossroads project on Nov. 8, 2021. The project will update the 14-mile corridor known as Malfunction Junction with new interchanges and safer traffic patterns. Work will beginning in the coming weeks on the most expensive infrastructure project in state history and will conclude by the end of 2029.
