SC Lede: Oversight Committee? More Like OverFIGHT

Ralph Norman Hourse Oversight Reform July 2022.jpg
Republican Rep. Ralph Norman (SC-5) repeatedly asked witnesses during a hearing regarding abortion before the House Oversight and Reform Committee whether they believed in infanticide. The hearing was on the fallout of the U.S. Supreme Court decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and its impact on abortion rights.

On this episode of the South Carolina Lede for July 19, 2022: a recap of tense exchanges between two South Carolina representatives and witnesses during a U.S. House committee on abortion; an update on who could be Democratic gubernatorial candidate Joe Cunningham's lieutenant governor pick; the latest on COVID-19 in the Palmetto State; and more.
