A second Mormon temple is coming to South Carolina

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced updates in its planning for four new temples. One of them will be in South Carolina. The Church says the temple, which will be the second built in the state, will be based in Greenville.

A construction map shows the temple will be built on a nearly nine-acre site along I-85.

According to a Church release, nearly 47,000 Latter-day Saints live in South Carolina.

The LDS Greenville Stake wrote on Facebook, “We look forward with immense gratitude to watching this holy house rise as a beacon of light, peace, and hope in the community.”

Currently, the only temple in the state sits in Richland County near Columbia.
