A chunk of land once intended to become a training facility for the Carolina Panthers was just sold.
The city of Rock Hill says its council approved the sale of 25 acres at Palmetto Research Park to Novant Health. The company says it will develop a medical campus on the site.
Palmetto Research Park is a 209 acre site that sits along I-77.
The city says the investment is estimated at over $300 million and will bring 255 jobs to Rock Hill.
The move comes after plans for a Panthers practice facility and headquarters fell through mid-construction four years ago. The half-built building was torn down in 2023, leaving the land vacant ever since.
Novant Health is based out of Winston-Salem, North Carolina
