State law enforcement officials have announced updates and arrests in two separate shooting investigations on the campus of South Carolina State University.

SLED announced on Wednesday that 18 year old Khamanti Kennedy has been formally charged with a second count of murder. The charges stem from a February shooting inside the campus's Hugine Suites housing complex that left teenagers Henry Crittington and Terrell Thomas dead.

According to arrest warrants, surveillance video and witness statements show Kennedy participated in a drug deal that escalated into an attempted armed robbery and the fatal shooting. Kennedy was already in custody on a prior murder charge from the incident.

SLED has also booked 19-year-old Deon Savage of Richland County on multiple weapons charges in connection with a separate shooting on campus last fall. That shooting happened after the school's homecoming football game in October.

Savage is accused of carrying a gun on school property, pointing a firearm and aggravated breach of peace for allegedly discharging a weapon into a crowd in the Hugine Suites parking lot during homecoming weekend. He is the third person arrested who is confirmed to have fired shots during the incident.

The first was 18-year- old Matthew McCoy who shot twice at an unidentified male wearing a black and red hoodie. The second was Darrell Lee Goss Jr. who, allegedly pointed a gun and fired into a crowd of persons in front of Hugine Suites. Goss was charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, carrying or displaying a firearm on school property, and breach of peace aggravated in nature.

That incident, which left one woman dead, remains an active and ongoing investigation.
