The shooting happened Wednesday in Berkeley County's Goose Creek.

One man is dead and another is hospitalized after an officer-involved shooting in the Lowcountry. South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agents said the incident happened at a Goose Creek home.

According to investigators, Berkeley County deputies responded to a disturbance call at the home. There, they found a man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Agents said outside the home, deputies were met with an armed man who allegedly pointed his gun at law enforcement. He was shot and died on scene. The Berkeley County Coroner's Office has not released the identity of the man who died.

SLED investigates officer-involved shootings in South Carolina at the request of the department or office. SLED data shows there were 45 officer-involved shootings in South Carolina last year. Wednesday's shooting is the 32nd this year.
