SC Public Radio's statewide network is experiencing intermittent outages and programming issues due to ongoing infrastructure upgrades. Our team is working to keep these disruptions to a minimum and to resolve issues that do arise. Streaming on this site, the SCETV App, the NPR App, and smart speakers is unaffected.

Bouncing Performers, Part 1

You've probably seen classical music performers who bounce, or shake, or stomp, or fling their hair, or moan and groan and grimace.  Perhaps you've been intrigued, or dazzled, or distracted or even revolted. I imagine at some point, you've asked yourself, "Am I watching something that's an artist's sincere and unconscious expression of physical involvement with the music, or is this a lot of show business bologna?"  Well, I can tell you first of all that almost none of what you're seeing on stage is unconscious.

A Minute with Miles- a production of SCETV Radio, made possible by the JM Smith Corporation.
