Ag & Art Tour

Making It Grow Radio Minute
SC Public Radio

Will Culler of Clemson’s Agri-business team heads South Carolina’s Ag and Art Tour, the largest in the nation. What a great way to visit local farms and let your kids see where their food comes from, take a pony ride, or learn about nature while at the same time seeing work from artists who come to display their creativity. In some places, artists’ studios, like Stormwater in Columbia, invite the public into their workspace while growers come to offer fresh veggies. Some breweries offer adult beverages if you’re just with grownups for the day. You’ll meet growers and producers who offer their fresh grown foods, or coffees or tea, all year at other locations nearby and artists and craftsmen so you can shop locally for unique gifts that don’t come from across the country in a cardboard box.

Amanda McNulty is a Clemson University Extension Horticulture agent and the host of South Carolina ETV’s Making It Grow! gardening program. She studied horticulture at Clemson University as a non-traditional student. “I’m so fortunate that my early attempts at getting a degree got side tracked as I’m a lot better at getting dirty in the garden than practicing diplomacy!” McNulty also studied at South Carolina State University and earned a graduate degree in teaching there.
